In our experience at Carolia Pool Tables Plus, many people assume pool is the only game you can play on a pool table. This often leads to reluctance to buy a pool table—after all, why buy a piece of furniture that can only be used for one thing? In this article, our team will introduce you to a few other pool table games. If you are looking for a little more variety in your pool experience (or want an excuse to finally buy a table of your own) we encourage you to give these a try:
- Any 8 – The first of the pool table games we will discuss here is one of the easiest, which makes it perfect for kids and for beginners of all ages. The object of the game is to be the first to sink any eight balls into the pocket. Solids and stripes don’t matter in this game, and there is no need to call pockets. You also don’t need to worry about the 8 ball.
- Pool Darts – The second of our pool table games is Pool Darts. In this variation, each pocket gets assigned a point value, like the cells on a dart board. For example, you can have the end pockets be worth five points and the middle pockets worth ten. You win points by sinking balls into the pockets, and the player with the most points at the end wins. If you like, you can also assign point values to the balls to make things more interesting.
- One Pocket – A third example of pool table games is a variation called One Pocket. In this version, each player is assigned a specific pocket in which to sink their balls. This is a great way to add challenge, as it becomes more difficult to get all your balls into that specific pocket.
